Penington Hits it Out of the Park with Sports Arenas
Penington Painting Company (PPC) has a long-standing history of painting sports venues, blending its passion for the game with a dedication to quality and durability. This journey began with a massive undertaking in 2011: painting the brand-new Matthew Knight Arena at Oregon State University, home of the Oregon Ducks men's and women's basketball teams. This project, completed before the arena’s first game, showcased PPC’s commitment to diligence and excellence on a highly public stage.
Building on that success, PPC has expanded its sports venue portfolio, which includes painting the Oakland A's spring training facility in Phoenix, Arizona, and contributing to ongoing renovations at the Arizona Diamondback’s Chase Field.
According to Pat Kichler, PPC’s Vice President and Senior Project Manager, painting a sports venue carries a unique set of responsibilities. “There is a very high level of quality that is expected on these projects and they are highly public with a lot of traffic,” Kichler stated. “It’s not only a matter of aesthetics but quality and durability. Expectations are extremely high.”
PPC understands that its work is a reflection of the university, city, and fans who will enjoy these venues for years. While the future holds many possibilities, Kichler has his sights set on new challenges. “Enclosed football stadiums would be a fun one to work on,” he said, hinting at the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for PPC in the world of sports.
