Beyond the Brush: More Than a Partnership

At Penington Painting Company, we often talk about the importance of relationships.

Whether it's with our employees, clients, industry partners, or the communities we're proud to be part of, the strongest connections are the ones built over time. Some begin with a project. Others begin long before a company ever exists.

For PPC President Jerry Penington, one of those relationships started when he was just 17 years old.

That was the first time he walked through the doors of Seattle Rugby Club.

What began as an introduction to the sport quickly became something much bigger. Rugby provided friendships, mentorship, challenges, and lessons that would stay with him throughout his life and career. Long before PPC became an established company, Seattle Rugby Club was a place where character, accountability, and teamwork were put into practice.

Those values remain just as important today.

More Than a Shared Logo

When people think about business partnerships, they often think about sponsorships, branding, or marketing opportunities.

For PPC, this relationship is different.

Our connection to Seattle Rugby Club is rooted in a genuine appreciation for an organization that helped shape the experiences and values of our leadership long before there was a Penington Painting Company.

The principles that make great rugby clubs successful are surprisingly similar to those that build strong companies: trust, commitment, discipline, resilience, and a willingness to put the team ahead of individual recognition.

Those qualities have influenced not only Jerry's journey, but the culture we continue to build throughout PPC.

Building Teams That Last

Every successful project requires people who are willing to support one another, communicate openly, and take responsibility for the outcome.

Construction demands teamwork. Rugby demands teamwork.

Neither allows shortcuts.

At PPC, we believe success comes from creating an environment where people can grow, contribute, and take pride in their work. The strongest organizations are built when individuals invest in one another and work toward a common goal.

That mindset is one of the reasons Seattle Rugby Club continues to hold a special place within our company.

Honoring the Organizations That Shape Us

As businesses grow, it's easy to focus solely on what's ahead. But it's equally important to recognize the people and organizations that helped shape the journey along the way.

Seattle Rugby Club is one of those organizations.

For Jerry, it represents an important chapter of his life. For PPC, it serves as a reminder that character is developed long before success is achieved, and that the lessons learned through teamwork, perseverance, and community often become the foundation for future achievements.

Looking Ahead

PPC is proud to support organizations that strengthen communities and bring people together around shared values.

Our relationship with Seattle Rugby Club is meaningful because it reflects something deeper than business. It reflects history, gratitude, and the lasting impact that great organizations can have on the people who pass through their doors.

Some connections begin with a partnership.

Others begin decades earlier and come full circle.

This is one of those stories.
